Business Ownership Guidelines
What you need to own a business
Out of character:
• At least 20 hours of total playtime on the server.
• Solid, consistent roleplay inside the business.
• No serious or repeated rule violations within the last 30 days.
• A solid understanding of and adherence to the server’s core roleplay standards and lore.
• To actually create good roleplay chances for other players.
In character:
• Provide proof of sufficient funds to buy or lease the business premises.
• Outline of your services, pricing and operating hours.
• Preferably some previous experience in a similar business if one already exists in the city (we’re flexible with time zones, activity levels and what’s available).
• Clear IC motivation for starting the business and aqcuiring the capital.
Co-ownership / partners
Out of character:
• Every owner has to meet the same requirements.
• Split the responsibilities clearly.
• Work together to keep the business active and the RP quality high.
• Handle disagreements like adults — don’t let them wreck the roleplay.
In character:
• Each person has a clear role in the company.
• Work out responsibilities and agreements through roleplay.
• The partnership has to make sense with each character’s background.
Employee access & permissions
Out of character:
• Only give people the access they actually need for their job.
• Make sure employees know the server rules and what you expect from them.
• You’re on the hook if someone misuses business resources or permissions.
In character:
• Their duties should match the role they’re given.
• Promotions and management spots are earned through roleplay, not just handed out.
• Staff should represent the business properly.
Buying, selling & ownership transfers
Out of character:
• It has to happen through an IC transaction.
• Staff has to approve the transfer.
• The new owner must meet the same requirements the old owner did.
• You can’t transfer a business just to dodge punishments, restrictions or inactivity consequences.
In character:
• Both sides negotiate the deal through roleplay.
• There needs to be a believable reason for the sale or purchase.
• Once it’s done, the new owner is fully responsible for running the place going forward.
Renovations & modifications
Out of character:
• Bigger renovations often need approval.
• Changes should never remove opportunities to roleplay.
• Nothing that gives an unfair advantage.
In character:
• Improvements should fit the business.
• Costs and planning have to make sense in roleplay.
• Changes should feel like natural growth of the business.
Inactivity:
Out of character:
• Requires active business RP (AFK time, quick logins, or afk farming do not count).
• 30 Days inactive: Business flagged for staff review, owner notified via forums.
• 45-60 Days inactive: Business repossesed,closed or transferred.
• Owners must appoint an Opening Manager when they’re away for a prolonged period of time.
• If PM decides it neccesary, the Opening manager can be promoted to active Owner.
• The real owner will be contacted via the forums about this change
• Inactive businesses can be removed or given to someone else.
In character:
• Staff might leave.
• Customers will go elsewhere.
• The business can start struggling financially.
General expectations for owners:
Out of character:
• Set a good example.
• Follow the server rules and encourage your employees do too.
• Give customers and staff enjoyable roleplay.
• Use the business in a way that actually benefits the community.
In character:
• Keep a decent reputation in the city.
• Build relationships with employees, customers and other businesses.
• Help the city’s economy by staying active in roleplay.
Closing or leaving a business
Out of character:
• If you want to close or step away from a business, let staff know in advance.
• Don’t just disappear and leave the business hanging.
• Closing a business properly may require staff approval, especially if it affects other players.
• You can’t use closing as a way to avoid inactivity rules or punishments.
In character:
• Closing should have a realistic reason (financial problems, personal reasons, moving on, etc.).
• Inform employees and regular customers through roleplay when possible.
• Handle any remaining money, stock or debts properly before fully shutting down.
Fireproofing your property (SanFire)
• Business owners and managers can request to have their property fireproofed through SanFire.
• This is not automatic! You need to go through the proper process with them.
• Fireproofing should be done for roleplay reasons, not just to make the building invincible.
• Staff may still review or limit certain protections if they feel it’s being abused. In character
• Contact SanFire to inspect your building and arrange fireproofing.
• Expect costs, paperwork, and a realistic timeline.
• Once approved, the property becomes more resistant to fire damage.
• Keep records or proof of the fireproofing in case it ever gets questioned. Link to SanFire request
